It's worldwide known that immigrant students have complicated problems in integrating into the schools they are educated and societies they live in. Immigrant students have had to leave their families, their homes, their cultures and their pasts in a sense, and had to migrate to countries where they are not very accustomed to or completely foreigners. Besides poverty, loneliness and the psychological problems, these immigrant students are expected to harmonize well to a new country.

With the continuous changes that society faces, there is a need to create and meet new educational goals that offer quality education adapted to current societal demands. In this sense, and in tandem with two key elements of today’s society, diversity and multilingualism, our education system is confronted with the need to offer inclusive education that at the same time provides students with the necessary skills to acquire a certain degree of communicative competence in more than one language.

Migrantes en STEM: Voces y Experiencias (MSTEM)

El proyecto se enfoca en visibilizar las experiencias de estudiantes y profesionales internacionales migrantes que incursionan en las áreas de ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería y matemáticas (STEM). A través de sus historias personales, desafíos y logros, se busca resaltar cómo su condición migrante, junto con factores como la identidad, el origen y el género, impactan en su acceso, permanencia y éxito en estos campos. Con esto, el proyecto promueve una mayor comprensión y valoración de la contribución y diversidad que aportan las personas migrantes a STEM.
